PLC and motion control software for machines that have to run.

We develop control software for special-purpose machines and plants. Our focus is Schneider Electric PacDrive, from PacDrive 3 to existing installations running PacDrive M. We also bring more than 20 years of experience with Siemens SIMATIC and motion control, robot applications with ABB and Schneider Electric, electrical design in Eplan, machine safety and IoT connectivity.

Focus

Schneider Electric PacDrive

PacDrive plays to its strengths in packaging and handling machines, where many servo axes run in sync. We have worked with the system for years and know the typical pitfalls with cams, axis groups and commissioning.

We have already delivered projects with the Lexium MC12 multi carrier on PacDrive 3, a transport system with individually controlled carriers. We integrate Delta and SCARA robots from Schneider Electric directly into the PacDrive control system.

We join new machine projects just as readily as existing ones that need to be extended, optimised or taken over.

Support for PacDrive M: Many machines still run on the previous generation. We handle troubleshooting, program changes and commissioning, even if the original programmer is no longer available. On request, we plan the migration to PacDrive 3.

Application example

Cross sealing on a vertical form-fill-seal machine

The diagram and animation show a typical PacDrive application from packaging machinery. Two servo axes follow a common virtual master axis and share every machine cycle without collision.

The orange curve shows the stroke of the cross-seal jaws, the green one the film pull-down and the dashed one the jaw velocity.

Electronic cams · Jaws and film pull-down Master 0.0°
Jaw stroke [mm] Film pull-down [mm] Jaw velocity [mm/°] 5th-order polynomial · bag length 80 mm
Vertical form-fill-seal machine (VFFS) Phase Film pull-down · Bags 0000
Task
The jaws close, seal, cut the bag and open again. While they are open, the film pull-down advances exactly one bag length.
Solution
Both axes run on electronic cams with 5th-order polynomials, so velocity and acceleration change without jumps. The film pull-down starts while the jaws are still opening, which shortens the cycle.
Format change
Bag length and jaw stroke are parameters, so a new bag length needs no mechanical changeover.
Key figures
Jaw stroke 120 mm (2 × 60 mm)
Sealing and cutting from 180° to 240°
Film pull-down 80 mm per cycle from 300° to 60°
The film only starts moving once the jaw gap is about 95 mm open. The tube is 56 mm wide.
